About The Event
Allison Archambault is President of EarthSpark International, a non-profit incubator for companies that can deliver high-quality energy services to under-served communities with a focus in rural Haiti. Under her leadership, EarthSpark has spun-off SparkMeter, a venture-backed smart meter technology company now serving utilities in 25 countries, and Enèji Pwòp, a Haitian electric utility company. EarthSpark has also built Haiti’s first town-sized, solar-powered smart grid, launched a second grid, and secured $9.9M from Green Climate Fund towards blended finance to build clean microgrid infrastructure to serve an additional 80,000 people across rural Haiti.
Allison penned EarthSpark’s “Feminist Electrification” methodology which won the UNFCCC Momentum for Change Award for being “a real world example of what climate action looks like.” Previously, Allison worked in clean tech in the US on grid integration planning for large scale renewables and on sales channels for residential solar+storage. She is also a National Geographic Explorer, and in 2017 she received the US Department of Energy’s C3E International Award. Allison’s TEDx talk “Electric Everything is Possible…Here’s How” bridges her work in Haiti with her home in Washington, DC and has been viewed over 50 thousand times.
